ConsultationYour treatment begins with a consultation with the Radiation Oncologist. You may also see a Nurse Practitioner in consultation. (Approximately one hour.) Treatment PlanningThe next appointment is for treatment planning (simulation) and involves verifying the area(s) that will receive radiation treatment. (Approximately one hour.) Daily TreatmentsRadiation therapy treatments are usually given five days per week for 2–8 weeks. (Approximately 20–30 minutes.) Weekly EvaluationsWeekly evaluations usually take place on the same day each week following your treatment. Follow-upYour follow-up care will include checking the results of your treatment, but it may also involve more cancer treatment, rehabilitation, and counseling. |
