Radiation Oncologists, P.C. Meet the Staff

Keith J. Stelzer, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Stelzer is a board certified radiation oncologist at Mid-Columbia Medical Center’s Celilo Center (www.mcmc.net) in The Dalles, Oregon. Dr. Stelzer received his undergraduate training at the University of California at Davis. He obtained his Ph.D. in Toxicology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Medicine, and did his residency training in Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington. Dr. Stelzer was on the faculty as Associate Professor in the Radiation Oncology and Neurological Surgery departments. He was head of stereotactic radiosurgery for Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington and the Harborview Medical Center Gamma Knife. Dr. Stelzer also was Chief of Radiation Oncology for the Seattle VA Medical Center, and was in charge of initiating that program and facility.

He moved to The Dalles in 2000 as the medical director for the Celilo Center (www.celilo.org) , and oversaw the building and opening of this distinctive cancer treatment facility. Under his direction, Celilo became the first center in Oregon or Washington to deliver dynamic intensity modulated radiation therapy. Dr. Stelzer has more than 60 scientific publications. He is former Chairman of the Brain Tumor Committee for the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), and retains an active interest in clinical research. His interests include fly-fishing, swimming, and snow skiing.
